On the day of my mathematics exam I feared I would get 99 instead of 100 as I made one silly mistake which is constantly haunting me. This hurt my ego and I continued to study day in and day out having sleepless nights, worrying if she still managed to beat me then I won't have a face to show my parents. My family including my grandparents, elder sister, uncle and aunt were expecting me to score well and on hearing I got beaten by a girl who looked down on me. But on an average if she scores like this she will be the topper in the class.Īt home the ambience was not hospitable. In our first term exams in class IX she beat me by 1 mark in almost every subject except for History, Chemistry and English.

“How can she be better than me? I have worked so hard that I will not tolerate someone coming and stealing my limelight.” For years I would place first in my class until one day a new student from a different city named Pratibha came in and stole the show. I was always a topper in class and my family and friends were so proud of me.
